Open Pay Scales for Your Scenario
Select the relevant Scenario.
Click the Scenario menu.
Under Data Settings, click Pay Scales.
Click the tab for the relevant Pay Scale (for example, Teachers, Support Staff, etc.).
You can now choose one of three ways to apply or amend inflation.
Method 1 β Apply Inflation Using Pay Scale Details
Use this if you want to apply percentage inflation across budget years for the whole pay scale.
On the Pay Scale tab, click Pay Scale Details.
In the inflation fields (for example, 2020β21 (%)), enter the percentage to apply.
The value you enter in the first field (for example, 2020β21 (%)) is applied to the first column of the Pay Scale grid (the previous yearβs value, often labelled SEP 20XX).
The remaining year columns in the grid use the inflation values you enter in the Pay Scale Details screen.
Click Save.
πNote: For grouped scales (such as Teachers), the same inflation rate is applied to all scales within the group when using Pay Scale Details.
Method 2 β Adjust the SEP 20XX Value Using Options (Spanner Icon)
Use this if you want to tweak the previous year (SEP 20XX) value while keeping the Pay Scale Details inflation driving the rest of the grid.
On the Pay Scale tab, click the Options (spanner) icon.
Locate the SEP 20XX value (the previous yearβs value).
In the Set Inflation By field, enter a plus (+) or minus (β) percentage to adjust the SEP 20XX figure up or down.
Apply the change and review the updated value.
β οΈImportant:
This adjustment affects only the SEP 20XX (previous year) value.
The rest of the grid values are still determined by the inflation rates you entered in Pay Scale Details.
Method 3 β Manually Overtype Values in the Grid
Use this if you need precise values that do not follow a simple percentage pattern.
In the Pay Scale grid, locate the SEP 20XX (first column) values.
Manually overtype the values in the SEP 20XX column as needed.
Optionally, continue to overtype values across the rest of the grid for each year.
Click Save when you are finished.
πNote:
You can overtype the whole grid if required.
However, if you manually overtype all values, you may effectively disable the usefulness of Pay Scale Details for future inflation changes on that scale, as the grid will no longer be driven solely by the inflation settings.
