Use the Budget Comparison Tool

Learn how to compare budget scenarios from the previous and current year using the Budget Comparison tool.

The Budget Comparison tool lets you compare how your budget changed in the previous year with how it is changing in the current year. You can compare original and current scenarios side-by-side.


Open Budget Comparison

  1. In Access Education Budgets, click the Academy/School menu.

  2. Under Budget Monitoring, click Budget Comparison.


Select Reporting Period and Scenarios

  1. Select the Reporting Period you want to focus on:

    • Total for the whole year, or

    • A specific month.

  2. Choose scenarios for each of the following:

    • Previous Year Original Scenario.

    • Previous Year Current Scenario.

    • Current Year Original Scenario.

    • Current Year Current Scenario.

You can select any Working, Locked, or Published scenarios. Locked or Published status is shown next to the scenario name. You can filter the lists by typing in the search field.


Run the Comparison

  1. After selecting all scenarios, click Recalculate.

The grid displays:

  • Budgeted values for each budget line, by account coding combination.

  • Previous year Original and Current scenarios.

  • Current year Original and Current scenarios.


Export the Budget Comparison

  1. Choose an export format from the list (for example, Excel).

  2. Click Export.

The comparison is downloaded in the selected format for further analysis.
