Year Groups

Learn how to update the year groups and what is the impact of having correct year groups.

Written by Cristina Gruita

This article explains how to select the year groups available in a budget year.

Year groups help define the Pupil Numbers section, which impacts the AWPU budget line because it is calculated from pupil numbers and cost per pupil.

πŸ“ŒNote: Year groups are managed from the Academy/School menu, so they are available to all scenarios created in the budget year. They are not specific to one scenario.

Update Year Groups

The available year groups are:

  • Nursery (3+).

  • 4+ Reception.

  • Year 1 to Year 13.

You cannot add additional year groups to this list. If you have children younger than nursery age in your school, add them to Nursery (3+).

  1. Click Academy/School, then click Settings.

  2. Click Year Groups.

  3. Select the boxes in the USED column for the year groups you want to include.

  4. Clear the boxes in the USED column for the year groups you want to remove.

  5. Click Update.

πŸ“Œ Note: Selecting the correct year groups is important because they affect the Pupil Numbers section and can impact the budget.

Understand How Year Groups Affect AWPU

The AWPU budget line is populated automatically. It is derived from a formula based on:

  • Pupil number.

  • Cost per pupil.

The year groups you select help define the pupil number data used in this calculation. Having the correct year groups selected helps keep the AWPU budget line accurate across the budget year.
